Lorraine Kelly gets Special Award at 2019 TRIC Awards
OHMYGOSSIP — Lorraine Kelly picked up the Special Award at the TRIC Awards on Tuesday (12.03.19).
The 59-year-old television presenter was honoured with the coveted gong at the Television and Radio Industries Club (TRIC) Awards at London’s Grosvenor House, which are held annually to recognise broadcasting excellence.
Lorraine – who is best known for her eponymously titled morning entertainment show – was handed the gong for her dedication in three and a half decades of television presenting.
A tweet from the award ceremony’s official Twitter read: “Huge congrats to @lorraine for winning our special achievement award @TRICawards (sic)”
Elsewhere at the ceremony, Holly Willoughby – who last year scored a hat-trick of award wins – added to her collection of TRIC trophies with a win for TV Personality of the Year, beating presenting duo Ant and Dec as well as her ‘Celebrity Juice’ co-star Keith Lemon in the process.
Unfortunately, Holly was unable to attend the ceremony, as she was attending the funeral for her grandmother, who passed away recently.
She announced the sad news on her Instagram account on Tuesday, writing: “Today we say goodbye for a little while to my beautiful Nan… go and be with Grandad… he’s been waiting for you… love you… miss you… (sic)”
Meanwhile, Greg James was named the Radio Personality of the Year, though his Radio 1 Breakfast show missed out on the Radio Programme award, which was snapped up by Roman Kemp’s Capital Breakfast show.
‘Emmerdale’ was crowned Soap of the Year, whilst individual Soap Actor was won by ‘EastEnders’ star Danny Dyer.
