The X Factor to bring back arena auditions

OHMYGOSSIP — ‘The X Factor’ is bringing back arena auditions.
While last year’s contestants had their auditions in a room with only the four judges, Louis Walsh, Simon Cowell, Sharon Osbourne and Nicole Scherzinger, producers have now decided to return to the previous format of having them audition in front of a huge audience.
A source told The Sun newspaper: “It’s often a once in a lifetime opportunity for those who audition.
“While performing in front of four of the most knowledgeable people in music, when else will some of these people get the chance to sing in front of an arena full of thousands?
“Ultimately, bosses are looking for an act who could go on to sell out arenas so this will be their chance to show they are arena worthy from the very first audition.
“And let’s not forget, it also means the panel of judges will get instant feedback from the audience about who they want to see more, or less, of.
“The rooms may throw up some comedy gold but the show is all about finding talent and producers think putting acts on a big stage from the word go will be helpful in doing that.”
It was also previously revealed that ‘The X Factor’ has held auditions in Benidorm and Tenerife this year, in a bid to find exciting new talent.
A source explained: “Benidorm in particular is home to one of the largest communities of ex-pat Brits in Europe. It makes it an ideal place for the open auditions to attend. There’s talent all over the world and who’s to say ‘X Factor’ isn’t going to uncover the next big star in an expat resort?”
And while they are shaking up auditions, judge Louis Walsh has insisted he will remain on the panel because his contract is “watertight”.
He said: “My contract is watertight. I’ve checked it out with someone and have told Simon that. He has asked me to come and see him in LA. I have spoken to Sharon [Osbourne]. She’s said they can only sack us if they pay us. Sharon did say she was surprised she hadn’t been given any filming dates. I don’t think they’ve finalised what they’re going to do with the panel. We have three-year contracts. We both do.”
