Kym Marsh wants to ‘celebrate the NHS’ after dad was diagnosed with cancer

OHMYGOSSIP — Kym Marsh wants to “celebrate the NHS” after her dad David was diagnosed with cancer.
The 46-year-old star – who is known having played the role of Michelle Connor on ‘Coronation Street’ for over a decade and has since gone on to front ‘Morning Live’ on the BBC – admitted that when her father was diagnosed with incurable prostate cancer back in 2021, she was struck down with “really bad anxiety” but explained that the organisation has done “so much” for herself and her family over the years.
She said: “Dad got sick and it was like, ‘I need to take a step back and go home for a while and do what I know I need to do.’ And that’s why I did. My anxiety was really bad at one point. I felt as though my work and everything was suffering. I sought help and am in a much better place now. I don’t think something like that ever really goes away but you learn to manage it. I got myself the help I needed. The NHS has done so much for me and my family over the years.”
The former Hear’Say singer – who has kids David, 27, Emilie, 25, and Polly, 11, from previous relationships and tragically lost on Archie when he died just moments after his birth back in 2013 – explained that it is “so important” to acknowledge the work NHS as she wondered where the country would be without them.
She told The Sun newspaper: “They were there for me during one of the worst times of my life when I lost my son Archie, their expert care ensured my daughter Polly was OK despite being born prematurely and they’ve given my dad the best care possible following his cancer diagnosis last year. It’s so important that we celebrate the NHS, because without them where would we be? They are wonderful and really deserve to be celebrated.”
