OHMYGOSSIP — ‘I’m a Celebrity…Get Me Out Of Here!’ has been moved because of the World Cup.
The ITV show will be moving its premiere date from end of November to end of October, as this year’s World Cup is being held in the winter in Qatar.
A TV insider told the Daily Mirror newspaper: “The best thing for viewers was to just avoid the clash altogether. The last thing anyone wants is for the audience to have to choose between the latest from the jungle and an England game.”
The World Cup usually takes place in the summer, but has been switch to the winter time this year due to the soaring temperatures in Qatar in June and July.
As a result, ITV has been forced to change the schedule for ‘I’m a Celebrity, with the long-running show kicking off on October 30.
Las month, meanwhile, a source revealed that the BBC was weighing up different ways of resolving a potential clash between ‘Strictly Come Dancing’ and the World Cup.
The hit show is one of the BBC’s flagship TV series, but the broadcaster is facing a big dilemma, with matches being staged at 6pm or 7pm UK time.
A source said prior to the draw: “BBC bosses are confident there will be plenty of room for footballs and glitterballs this autumn.
“We haven’t had the draw yet so it is early days to speculate on what games the BBC and ITV will pick to show.”
England are among the favourites for this year’s tournament, while Wales and Scotland are both still trying to qualify for this year’s World Cup.
