Mulberry appoints Thierry Andretta as CEO

OHMYGOSSIP — Mulberry has appointed Thierry Andretta as their new CEO after Jonny Coca took over as creative director in November last year.

The fashion designer – who held positions at Lanvin, Moschino, the Gucci Group, LVMH, Céline and Italian fine jewellery brand, Buccellati, before arriving at the luxury label as an independent non-executive director in June – will assume the role on April 7, reports Vogue.co.uk.

The move follows the announcement that former Celine accessories designer, Johnny Coca, is to fill the creative director role which has been left vacant since Emma Hill departed the brand in 2013, on July 8.

Mulberry’s chairman, Godfrey David: “I am delighted that Thierry has agreed to become chief executive.

“He has a wealth of fashion and luxury goods experience and an ability to drive our ambitious plans for international growth. In parallel with recruiting our new creative director, Johnny Coca, we undertook an extensive search and concluded that Thierry was the outstanding CEO candidate.”

Andretta admitted he is “delighted” to be joining the British label and is looking forward to working with his new team.

He said: “Mulberry is a truly authentic British brand with a unique manufacturing base in the UK. The brand has great international potential and I look forward to building the business with Godfrey, Johnny, the rest of the team and the board.

“I am delighted to become chief executive after nearly a year as a non-executive director.”

Meanwhile, Emma is said to have left the brand two years ago after conflicting with Mulberry’s management over “creative and operational strategy”.

The collections have been produced collaboratively by their design team ever since.
