Mary Katrantzou worried she would run out of ideas
OHMYGOSSIP — Mary Katrantzou has confessed she worried she might “run out of ideas” after starting her eponymous fashion label six years ago. The Greek-born designer – who established her eponymous label six years ago – worried that she would struggle to find inspiration for her colourful creations, but has now found confidence in herself after evolving as a designer.
She told Vogue.co.uk: “Every step you take you need to re-asses where you’re going. You do evolve. I’m not as scared as when I first started – I thought I would run out of ideas.
“I understand more about myself than when I started. Back then a shift dress with a print had to do all of the work.”
The designer – who studied a Fashion MA at London’s Central Saint Martins – also believes her lack of knowledge when entering into the industry has helped fuel her success as having no “pre-conceived notions” aided her “self-exploration”.
She explained: “I felt I was doing a lot of catching up and self-exploration [when I was at CSM] with people who’d wanted to be a designer since the age of 14.
“You go into it a little blind-folded which makes it better as otherwise you have an abstract sense of perfection. Not having any pre-conceived notions helped.”
