Britain’s Queen Elizabeth will officially open the Commonwealth Games

OHMYGOSSIP — Britain’s Queen Elizabeth and her husband Prince Philip will officially open the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow, Scotland, while several members of the royal family will attend varying events. The monarch and her husband Prince Philip will attend the opening ceremony at Celtic Park in Glasgow, Scotland, on 23 July, while their sons Prince Charles and Prince Edward will also attend, along with their wives Duchess Camilla and Countess Sophie.

Earlier that day, Charles and Camilla will visit one of the Games venues, though it is not yet clear which it will be, and on 24 July, the queen and Philip will visit a number of other sites.

Meanwhile, Charles’ sons Princes William and Harry, along with William’s wife Duchess Catherine, will attend the Games on 29 and 29 July.

Edward, in his role of Vice Patron of the Commonwealth Games Federation, and his wife will attend a number of events throughout the two-week period before officially closing the contest on 3 August.

Additionally, the queen’s daughter Princess Anne – who is the patron of the Scottish Rugby Union (SRU) – will attend the Games on 26 July and the Duke and Duchess of Gloucester will be in attendance on both the 24 and 25 July.
